I'm back from L.A.
'Twas a fun trip, indeed. I thought some of you might be interested in seeing some photos from the two Folds/Shatner shows, featuring Joe Jackson, Henry Rollins, Fleming & John, Lindsay, the new drummer, and Jared the new bassist. First set are mine from Thursday, and the second set are
ms_nomer's photos taken the second night. More on the shows soon.
21 Oct, Thursday

They start the Wiilliam Shatner portion of the set with "Has Been," also featuring Joe Jackson on backing vocals.

Fleming adding her soprano to "It Hasn't Happened Yet."

Joe Jackson, all agreed, was an irresistable stage presence, capturing the rapt attention of the crowd during the Pulp cover, "Common People."

Left to right, Lindsay, the new drummer, Joe Jackson, Jared, the new bassist, and John Mark Painter.
22 Oct, Friday

Familiar view of the seasoned Ben fan, right in front of the action.

Ben takes over bass duties as Jared, aka "Mr. Reynolds," commanded the audience to "feel [his] pain" during "Rockin' the Suburbs."

I have no idea what he's explaining at this point, but he looks authoritative, no?

Free to shed the clingy blue button-up shirt he soaked during the main set, Ben dons a clean long-sleeved tee during the intermission, and assumes proper piano posture to accompany Shatner.

Shatner performs...

Henry Rollins joins the stage for "I Can't Get Behind That."

Some of the Ben fans in attendance, including Art, Chris (aka Kingweasle), Laura (aka JaneBeJane), myself, yummy new friend Brad Shaw, and Stephanie.

My old Ben friend, Laura and I, posing with somebody's no-effort tag behind us. Taken as we waited for a glimpse of William Shatner leaving the show. This one especially for
foldsfan1959. See? I posted a picture of myself.

wow.
wow.
Either that or he looks like Christopher Walken.
As I mentioned earlier tonight. The new glasses are great. You should wear them all the time even tho you don't need them as another weapon in your alterna-boy-slaying arsenal. We'll take you to the Twilight Exit and you'll have to beat them off with a LARGE PIECE OF PRESSED FIBERBOARD ABOUT THEIR HEADS AND NECKS REPEATEDLY!
I guess I should get used to hearing your bed a rockin' from now on, 'kitten! I SHAN'T COME KNOCKIN'! hehe
Maybe I should use fallen drywall instead. ;)
Let's see... what do I have that you don't have...
I'll trade you... my soul!
The recording was ripped last night, but may need a new rip -- I'll find out today. Either way, it'll be done soon, for once. Just IM me, and I'll get it to you. Four new songs!
So - did you get the glimpse??
That's a good one.....I'm still giggling.
Annie, you are HAWT.
The end.
I really like that first picture of ol' William. He has that "alterna coffee house" vibe working for him at the music stand... ;)
Oh, man. It's the hair. THE HAIR! Not to mention the glasses...
These pics are amazing! I am SO jealous! I saw Shatner and Fleming when I they played in Hollywood with Ben Last time and it was amazing!
This time round I'm back in the UK seeing three shows but I somehow doubt that either will come over with Ben :(
So jealous!
Did they do Satan Is Real?
These pictures are so cool! Oh, and didn't you once have a website up with practically a library of live Ben shows?
So. . . do you know of any recordings of this one? =D
I recorded this show, and plan to make it available soon. :) Check back on my LJ for an update in a few days.
